Reports to: Senior Mechanical Engineer / Engineering Manager

The Mechanical Engineering Placement Student will support the engineering team in the design, development, and delivery of mechanical systems across a range of projects. The role provides hands-on experience in design, analysis, site support, and project coordination, helping develop practical engineering skills in a real-world environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems, including:

- HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning)

- Pipework and plumbing systems

- Mechanical plant and equipment

· Support the production of engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

· Help perform engineering calculations and system sizing.

· Assist in preparing technical specifications and reports.

· Support engineers with project delivery and coordination.

· Attend design meetings and contribute to technical discussions.

· Assist with site visits, inspections, and surveys.

· Support the review of submittals and technical documentation from suppliers and subcontractors.

· Help ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations.

· Assist with troubleshooting and resolving engineering issues during project delivery.

Skills and Knowledge

· Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

· Familiarity with (or willingness to learn):

- AutoCAD / Revit

- Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Good communication and teamwork abilities.

· High level of attention to detail.

· Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

· Basic understanding of:

- HVAC or building services systems

- Engineering calculations and design principles

· Experience using CAD software through university or projects

· Interest in sustainable design and energy efficiency
