Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for managing financial records, processing invoices, handling accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with VAT and tax compliance across multiple European locations. You will play a key role in ensuring data accuracy, timely reporting, and process improvement within a fast-paced finance department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Management Accounts Assistance: Support in the preparation of monthly consolidated management accounts across multiple company levels in SAGE.
Payroll & Costing: Assist with payroll journals for UK & European payroll, ensuring accurate project costing.
Reconciliations: Perform credit card, bank, and creditor reconciliations, including foreign bank revaluations.
VAT & Tax Compliance: Assist with UK & European VAT returns, CIS record-keeping, and tax registrations in multiple EU countries.
Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare pay runs, assist with withholding tax returns, and ensure compliance with international financial regulations.
Process Improvement: Support the implementation of new contracts in Europe and assist with efficiency improvements in accounting processes.
Liaison & Collaboration: Work closely with external consultants, accountants, and financial teams across Europe.
Regulatory Filings: Assist with Invest NI filings and Intrastat returns to support compliance.

Qualifications/Experience:

🔹 Accounting Technician qualification or part-qualified accountant.
🔹 3+ years’ experience in an accounts administration role within a fast-paced finance department.
🔹 Experience using Sage or a similar accounting system is essential.
🔹 Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
🔹 Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
🔹 Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
🔹 Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet daily and monthly deadlines.
🔹 Discretion and confidentiality in handling financial information.
🔹 Ability to work independently and contribute to process improvements.
